




Key Largo Trailhead, Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail

Location: Key Largo, Florida
currently performing structural design for a 5,000 s.f. facility that will serve the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail, a multi-use bicycle and pedestrian facility that will ultimately traverse the Florida Keys. The Key Largo Trailhead facility will house restrooms and includes an exhibit area and office space. In addition to the facility, the project involves the conversion of an existing dock structure into a covered observation platform overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Chain of Lakes Trailhead Park
Client: Borelli + Partners
Location: Winter Haven, Florida
The primary focus of this facility is to provide access to the recently completed Chain of Lakes Trail, while also expanding the City’s general recreation offerings. Improvements associated with the project include 140 new parking spaces, restroom/concession facilities, a transportation themed interactive playground, a municipal lawn/plaza, maintenance storage building, picnic facilities, shade pavilion, bike lockers, and general site furnishings. BASE Consultants performed design for the restroom and concession facilities portion of the project. The construction budget is approximately $1.4 million and construction is expected to start in the Fall of 2009.
